‘Raise Your Voice’ Featured in Worldwide Anti-Hunger Campaign

Thursday, June 17, 2010

OKLAHOMA CITY – An anti-hunger anthem by Oklahoma folk singer-songwriter K.C. Clifford has been selected as the theme song for CROP Hunger Walk 2010, a worldwide public awareness campaign led by Church World Service to help end hunger locally and globally.

Clifford wrote “Raise Your Voice” to support the efforts of Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, and in March 2009 performed the song for a national television audience on a special segment of the NBC reality television show “The Biggest Loser.”  The experience has led to a series of performances at food banks across the country.  The song is available on iTunes and at www.kcclifford.com.

“Hunger is an issue that’s very close to my heart,” Clifford said.  “I’ve dealt with hunger and weight-loss issues most of my life, and made a commitment to do what I can to help others who are struggling.  I feel extremely honored, and humbled, that this song continues to touch the lives of so many.”

Approximately two million people participated in CROP Hunger Walks in their communities last year, raising more than $16 million to help end hunger and poverty around the world and in their own communities.

CROP Hunger Walks are currently being organized in Oklahoma communities for September and October, including: Bartlesville, Claremore, Edmond, Midwest City, Norman, Ponca City, Stillwater and Tulsa.

Founded in 1946, Church World Service is a cooperative ministry of 36 Christian denominations and communions working together to eradicate hunger and poverty and promote peace and justice among the world’s most vulnerable people.
